My name is Heath Haskell. I
started working on Valve in mid-1999, after i played Half-Life. I
loved the whole atmosphere of mystery behind the saga, so i joined
the group of developers that worked on the arguments of the Half-Life
series (and it wasn't easy).
I will not tell minor
details about my life and how i started to work on Valve. The
important thing is what happened to me over the years that i was in
this company. It does not matter what is going to happen to me after
writing this... yout will understand later.
I remember i was just
learning how to work in Valve, when Gabe Newell sat down with me to
lunch to discuss a very important topic. I remember that conversation
perfectly, the joy conveyed in the words of Gabe.... and at one point
he stood up and announced what he had previously told me.
Gabe Newell told me Marc and
me were going to lead the "plot group", it was the greatest
opportunity i had to show the world i was an artist, the reason i
would be in history... I didn't know that this would change -and
negatively- all my life, at least some years later.
So we were working for six
months on HL2 (We were be about eight people working with us).
Playing with demos, animations of the whole game. In February 2001,
we had the entire script ready.
With the script already
finished, i decided to take on holiday (Other groups on Valve were
going to work on Source Engine, models, characters) I was also in
constant communication with Kelly Bailey, who was already working on
the soundtrack that accompany Half-Life 2.
We anticipate to mid-2003;
HL2 was almost in its final form, and it had made an incredible
presentation at E3, showing how it would revolutionize the world of
video games. This year was vital in the production of the series, for
which happened in a casual day
It was May 29 when Mike
Harrington called me into his office. Although it will sound a bit
“creepypasta”, believe me, it looked very pale and a little
sweaty. When he stopped talking, he turned to me with a scary “Hi
Mr. Haskell”.
Mike explained me that they
were having some trouble with Half-Life lately, so it would delay the
release of HL2. However, he told me he wanted to write three
expansions of HL2. Three "episodes" to continue with the
story of Gordon Freeman. I accepted without hesitation.
I asked Mike about Marc, if
he would work with me and the whole team of arguments. Mike told me
that Marc had been having some family issues lately, so i would be
alone in the assembly of the argument. Just me, no team or co-leader.
He explained the details and the expected duration of each episode,
and in which concept should every episode relay on (hdr, big
scenarios, dynamic weather)
So, i did it. I wrote the
three episodes and delivered them in a script to Gabe personally.
Soon, Valve had the first two
chapters on sale, and i decided to take another 'vacation' to escape
of the routine of writing and thinking all day.
On October 30, 2007, i
driving home after working at Valve on several production concepts of
HL3, my carstopped working about two miles of my apartment. Two
people with blue suit (yes, blue suit, similar to Gman) turned off
the engine of my car. I was quickly sedated (although it might have
been choked), and when i awoke i was already in a sort of jail, with
modern look.
For two hours I had to answer
a few questions of these guys... i did not suffer any kind of
torture, i think it was because i didn't know shit about this
'problem'.
You see, i wasn't taken there
by coincidence, i was there because the whole story of Half-Life is a
political problem... I haven't heard anything in the last four years
but let me tell you, something very similar to the war of seven hours
is happening, here on Earth. It wont be seven hours long and with
aliens, but it is ocurring right now, as you're reading this, all
made by imperialist governments that care more about dominating the
world that helping people in this world.
If by the time you are
reading this Half-Life 3 is out, you will realize that it will not be
the same story, with the Combine and the subjugation of humanity .. I
guess the developers were contacted by these people before, but they
wanted to leave me in charge of this "problem"...
Half-Life doesn't matter
anymore, me neither. I can't tell where I am because really don't
know, but let me tell you that the “unintended consequences”
which i personally suffer over this years, do not matter anymore. And
if you choose to ignore this, and believe the "official"
version of Valve, congratulations, you just believed a lie.
But please, share this to
everyone you can. Is as you read this, there's already signs that the
U.S Government is trying to slave people, you need to realize that
everything is a massive plan that will culminate in a world
dictatorship.
By now Heath Haskell's
already dead, but you do not. The power of Internet is big enough to
provide knowledge to billions of people, so... you are on your own.
Sorry to write so bad, after
all these years, writing makes me more aware of my loneliness, here
in whatever this place is.
-Heath Haskell, creator of
Half-Life 2 and episodes.
